From Street Shoes to Combat Boots and Back

Ever imagine what the mindset would anyone be in as a human that goes into any military branch? Was it for patriotism, no other job, or something else? Me, I had known what I wanted to do after our family band broke up. It was me and 6 of my classmates who all enlisted into the Air Force in 1974. Till this day. I really enjoyed my over 20+ active-duty service. I retired from the Air Force on 1 October 1994. It was truly an eye opener from basic training to the first training school I attend in Biloxi, Mississippi. Various racists people down there. But after going to my permanent Air Force base in Abilene, Texas we had no problem. However, after I got married. My best friend in the Air Force lived in an apartment that didn’t allow Black people in the pool or in the complex. During my 20+ years in the Air Force. It was mostly smooth sailing. However, most of the jobs I was given were where others didn’t want to the job. But, I always those jobs positive and got awarded for the great job I accomplished. Like being in several combat situations in different parts of the world. After I came back from Australia where I achieved a PhD in Philosophy with a background in TV Broadcasting. I had known where to live because both of my parents had passed. I was almost homeless surviving only on my military retirement. I was truly different for to adjust back to civilian life again.
