Leonor is coming. The second stand alone novel in the acclaimed Queens of Portugal Trilogy is available this Fall. Before the infamous Lucrezia Borgia lived in Rome, Leonor was wielding her will in medieval Lisbon. Northsiders will be among the first to learn about Leonor from Catherine Mathis. History is stranger than fiction. Atlanta author Catherine Mathis was born in Berlin -- where her father was a spy -- and raised in Washington, D.C. -- where he was a federal agent with the DEA. A daughter surrounded by international affairs, Catherine made her own successful career in corporate and international banking, where she had the opportunity to travel to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Catherine now writes, lives, and works with her husband in Atlanta near their son and his treasured family. Throughout her adult life, Catherine never lost her academic interest in medieval history, the focus of her degree from Sewanee l The University of the South. On a special holiday trip to Portugal planned by her husband, Catherine faced royal tombs that led her deep into the lives of Portugal's medieval rulers and resulted in the Queens of Portugal Trilogy : the award-winning Ines (2025), Leonor (Fall 2026), and Philippa (coming in 2028).
